Background

Taiyo Nippon Sanso (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is the largest industrial gas manufacturer in Japan, and is engaged in business in various fields such as steel, chemicals, electronics including semiconductors, non-ferrous metals, automobiles, medical, food, as well as space and aviation sectors and other fields.

From October 2020, we transitioned to a holding company structure and expanded not only within Japan but also into the United States and Singapore since 1980. Currently, we are conducting business in 19 countries around the world, with a focus on the United States and Southeast Asia.

Challenges before implementation

The machine translation system that was introduced is not being utilized.

In December 2018, we received an inquiry from the person in charge of the Information Systems Department at Human Science Co., Ltd. regarding the replacement of the machine translation system. They expressed their interest in using Google Translate.

At Taiyo Nippon Sanso, there was a need for translation in the sales department for contracts, presentation materials, and in the manufacturing site for business communication with overseas partners.
However, they faced the challenge of not utilizing the machine translation system that had already been introduced internally due to reasons such as "poor translation quality" and "slow translation speed".
