Background

Taiyo Nippon Sanso (hereinafter referred to as TNS) is the largest industrial gas manufacturer in Japan, operating in various sectors including steel, chemicals, electronics, semiconductors, non-ferrous metals, automotive, medical, food, and even aerospace and other fields.

Since October 2020, we have transitioned to a holding company structure and have expanded not only within Japan but also into the United States and Singapore since 1980. Currently, we are operating in 19 countries worldwide, primarily in the United States and Southeast Asia.

Challenges Before Implementation

The implemented machine translation system is not being utilized

In December 2018, we received an inquiry from the person in charge of the Information Systems Department on the Human Science homepage,
"We are considering replacing our machine translation system"

At Taiyo Nippon Sanso, the sales department needed translations for contracts and presentation materials, while the manufacturing site required translations for business communications with overseas partners.
However, there was a challenge that the already implemented machine translation system was not being utilized internally due to reasons such as "poor translation quality" and "slow translation speed."

Additionally, one of the significant benefits of the replacement is that the cost of using the machine translation system has decreased compared to before.

I personally use it as well, and DeepL is also standard equipment (note: this was the specification at the time of introduction and may differ now). Depending on the type of document, I utilize different tools such as Google Translate. If I can also use the My Phrase feature, the translation accuracy seems likely to improve even more.
I use it for translating PowerPoint materials, and there is no need for corrections.
Now it is also open to our group companies, expanding the opportunities for use.
