Manual Standardization Support (Manual Evaluation, Manual Creation Seminar)

Concerns of DAIICHI SANKYO BUSINESS ASSOCIE CO., LTD.

Daiichi Sankyo Business Associates Co., Ltd. primarily provides business support for the entire group of Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd.

By preparing manuals that are easy to understand and allow for quick information retrieval regarding the contents of business regulations, we aim to further improve the quality of our support.

As part of that, you were considering how to improve the current business manual and how to standardize the numerous manuals that exist.

We received an inquiry about holding a seminar for the manual improvement working group to accelerate efforts towards improving the manuals.

Solutions of Human Science

We provided the actual manuals and submitted evaluation reports and improvement proposals. While discussing the themes to be emphasized in the seminar, we prepared original texts to be used in the training sessions.

Content of the Workshop

・Use the customer's actual manual as training material.

- Customize the seminar content to be offered in a 3-hour course.

- Based on the manual analysis results, "Review the table of contents" and "Standardize terminology"

"Strive for clear expressions" and "layouts that enhance visibility" and so on

Focusing on the points, we also create exercises using examples from actual manuals.

- Discussion on how to improve using the subject matter of the exercises.

Customer Feedback

It was very easy to understand and applicable to practical work because you proceeded specifically using the manuals that we actually use in our company.

Even if you think the manual is vaguely difficult to understand, the writing often reflects a person's quirks and attachments, making it hard to change it easily, even when pointed out by a boss or leader.

In that sense, external professional advice was able to provide objectivity and was accepted straightforwardly.

Our manuals have sometimes focused on detailed descriptions in an effort to convey information accurately and without omission, but we have come to recognize that using concise expressions from the reader's perspective is important for clarity.

I had been creating the table of contents for the manual without much thought until the end, but I realized that it is important to design it with an awareness of who will read it, when, and for what purpose, so that one can understand what is written just by looking at the titles.

Through the seminar, we were able to share this understanding among the stakeholders, and I feel that we have taken a significant step towards improving the quality of the manuals in the future.

From Human Science representatives

Daiichi Sankyo BA Manual Creation Seminar Yasuoka Horikoshi

This is a seminar focused on business manuals.

The person in charge, who is well-versed in the business, created the manual, so the content written was accurate and sufficient.

In this seminar, we discussed the improvements on the theme of "What makes a manual easy to understand for readers?" and specifically considered how we can improve through workshops.

This seminar made it clear that by being more aware of "who," "when," and "for what purpose" the manual is read, we can improve its clarity.

By sharing the desire of the person in charge to improve the manual, we were able to plan and consider the seminar plan, which has laid a good foundation for efforts toward manual standardization.
