Customer Requests

Mr. Ito (Hitachi Construction Machinery): Our company’s mining business mainly deals with construction machinery for overseas mines, such as ultra-large shovels. In recent years, our customers have requested not only high-performance and high-quality construction machinery but also proposals on how to operate the machinery throughout its entire lifecycle. Therefore, we decided to strengthen our sales support educational tools that contribute to the training of sales and service staff for construction machinery.
――HS (Our representative): I see, so even in Mr. Ito’s department, which creates your company’s sales materials and catalogs, there has been a need to take on an educational role.
Mr. Ito: That’s right. We have been conducting e-learning so far, but to enhance the content further, we wanted to establish a system domestically and make a fresh start.
――HS: I’ve heard that the distribution destinations are many, including the EU, Oceania, America, China, and Southeast Asia. Also, since each country or region operates its own LMS (Learning Management System), it seems important to have content that works stably and commonly across all platforms.
Mr. Ito: Exactly. Since the LMS used varies by region, we need to tailor our approach accordingly. Until now, we have created content locally based on information provided from Japan and dispatched instructors from Japan as well.
――HS: That must have made maintaining content consistency and arranging instructors quite challenging.
Mr. Ito: Yes, that’s why we thought that by using e-learning, we could create an environment where sales agent staff can "access anytime," which would improve overall efficiency and the quality of training. That’s why we reached out to Human Science.

Reasons for Choosing Human Science

――HS: By the way, could you tell us why you chose our company for this project?
Mr. Ito: Actually, we already had business with your company at our Kasumigaura General Training Center (Kasumigaura City, Ibaraki Prefecture), and it was through the introduction from the person in charge there.
――HS: Thank you very much! We are truly honored to have earned your trust through our work at the Kasumigaura General Training Center.
Mr. Ito: Also, for this project, coordination with the European team was necessary, and the deciding factor was that your company already had experience using Articulate. You also produced multilingual content at the Kasumigaura General Training Center, right?
――HS: Yes, we have extensive experience creating multilingual content with Articulate, so we believe you can trust us with the creation of the English content as well.
Mr. Ito: That was very reassuring, and that’s why we decided to ask your company to handle it.

Our company (Human Science) has been involved in the following projects since around 2017.
・Creation of content using Articulate Storyline/Rise. We have handled numerous projects including creating content on basics of hydraulics and the structure of dump trucks, including translations into English, Simplified Chinese, Indonesian, and Russian.
・Creation of video content related to maintenance of factory equipment. We have visited and filmed at their Tsuchiura factory, creating content on maintenance tasks for various machine tools inside the factory (such as NC lathes), as well as producing numerous other video contents.

Evaluation and Implementation Effects of Human Science

――HS: Could you please share your honest feedback on our company's handling and the effectiveness of the content created this time? Mr. Ito: To be honest, in addition to the materials we were originally preparing for Australia, when we gathered the service materials created domestically, we ended up with more than 10 documents. We needed to compile them into a single piece of content. ――HS: That sounds like quite a challenging task. Mr. Ito: Yes, while we provided guidance on selecting and discarding information, your company organized each document one by one, carefully reviewed them to ensure nothing was missed, and thoroughly reconstructed them into solid content. It was a great help.

――HS: Thank you very much. I understand that you received many opinions from representatives of various countries; was coordinating all of that difficult? Mr. Ito: Yes, that's right. I believe your company properly incorporated those opinions. In addition, it was great that you referred to the highly rated content already created and published in Europe and added interactive elements and mechanisms that allow learners to check by operating them themselves. ――HS: We especially emphasized the interactive elements because they contribute to improving learning comprehension.

Mr. Ito: As of June 2025, we have already published two pieces of content. We have also heard feedback from the field such as “(to be confirmed and noted separately)” and “(to be confirmed and noted separately),” and we feel that the overall evaluation has been positive. Moving forward, we will continue to improve based on feedback from the field and aim to work on content creation for other products as well. ――HS: We would definitely like to continue supporting you in the future!

Future Prospects

――HS: Finally, could you please share your future outlook with us? Mr. Ito: First, there are more than 10 mining models we want to turn into content, and we will need to keep up with regular model changes going forward. ――HS: Indeed, with model changes and new models, the update frequency will increase. Mr. Ito: That's right. Also, our company plans to continue expanding in overseas markets and the mining business. Therefore, we hope your company will continue to create better content through frequent information sharing and feedback. ――HS: Of course. We will make sure to reflect your requests and feedback from the field, and strive to always provide the most suitable content. Mr. Ito: Furthermore, we want to actively incorporate effective new technologies and methods, so we hope you will continue to make proposals even during development. ――HS: Understood! Our company will also proactively propose new ideas and technologies to support your global expansion.

From Human Science Representatives

The source materials contained a large amount of information, and since both these materials and the content we created were in English, there were some challenges different from our usual content production. To accurately understand the content, we translated each material once, checked the English text while producing the content, and ultimately gathered internal services such as having our in-house translation team review the English text. This approach has allowed us to maintain quality and other standards, and as of June 2025, we are working on the third piece of content. As a side note, although we have visited Hitachi Construction Machinery's factories several times before, for this project we visited the Hitachi Naka Port Factory in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, which manufactures mining construction machinery, for the first time. We were astonished by the enormous size of the construction machinery introduced in the content we are creating—it was like a single building. We are grateful for the opportunity to tour the facility and have renewed our commitment to providing even better content.
