About APRESIA Systems
APRESIA Systems has successively entered the market and expanded its business by introducing broadcast antennas in the 1960s, information network equipment in the 1980s, and system integration business along with antennas for mobile base stations in the 1990s, previously under Hitachi Cable.
In December 2016, we became independent from Hitachi Metals and have been supporting the development of our lives and society as a dedicated information systems company that provides added value to information system infrastructure, including social infrastructure solutions, security solutions, and information system operation management solutions.
Human Science has been assisting APRESIA Systems with the manual creation for their Ethernet switch "Apresia NP Series" since 2015.
"ApresiaNP Series" is a next-generation L2 and L3 switch that achieves low cost while incorporating security management and QoS features for highly evolved corporate networks.

Customer Requests
1. We want to improve the manuals and build a workflow that allows engineers to focus on their core tasks.
2. By creating high-quality manuals, we want to enhance the added value of our products.
Traditionally, engineers involved in development and customer support have been engaged in manual creation,
How to improve the clarity of manuals from the user's perspective
"Is it possible to create a system that allows engineers to focus on their core tasks while producing high-quality manuals?"
Have been considering such things.
In planning our new product, we have undertaken quality improvement of the manuals as one of the measures to enhance the added value of the product.
Specifically, it was about selecting a partner that you can trust to handle manual creation and progressing with the manual creation while collaborating.
Even engineers with high skills do not have the opportunity to systematically learn the know-how of manual creation. Especially since specialized knowledge of network products is required, we have repeatedly considered what approaches are possible.
Solutions of Human Science
1. Proposal for the work process and role distribution to engage stakeholders
2. Establishment and Sharing of Quality Standards Aimed at Long-term Operations
As this has become a manual for the new project, we believe that consensus among stakeholders is essential, and we have spent a lot of time designing the overall process as well as the division of roles and outputs for each process.
What we particularly emphasized was the clarification of the purpose and target audience during the table of contents and prototype design stages.
Additionally, by sharing the target quality and check points for each proofreading stage through a checklist, we aimed to clarify the positioning of each work process while progressing with the production.
We feel that by establishing standards in anticipation of future operations, we have been able to achieve production that maintains a certain level of quality.
As many stakeholders were involved in the project, the key person who consolidated the production policy and points of concern for the manual became important. The fact that the person in charge led the project despite their busy schedule was also a factor that contributed to its success.
Furthermore, by involving not only the development and SQA personnel but also the support staff, we were able to thoroughly examine the optimal manuals from the user's perspective.

Customer Feedback
It became a long-term project lasting a year, so schedule management became a challenge. Additionally, while flexibly responding to the review of the development schedule associated with the new product, it was necessary to determine priorities and steadily advance the project. By clearly organizing action items and presenting what each party should do, we were able to proceed steadily.
Additionally, since there were many tasks requested from busy engineers, such as attending meetings and checking manuals, it was also important to constantly share the purpose of the work within the company.
The proposal, which considered the advantages and disadvantages of options for consensus building and the approach in meetings, greatly helped in involving the company internally.
The completed manual not only covers the necessary content but also adds extra value that appeals to users. In particular, when engineers individually handle the writing, the content and depth can vary greatly from person to person. However, the know-how to standardize the overall quality felt like the work of professionals with specialized knowledge in writing.
From Human Science representatives
In the field of industrial products, we often hear stories about the struggles of not having an internal framework for manual creation. This time, APRESIA Systems has actively worked on a workflow for creating high-quality manuals without making the manual creation process dependent on individuals.
In fields that require specialized knowledge, the cooperation of engineers is essential for creating manuals. Therefore, it is important to properly design the purpose of the manual and the target audience to establish clear goals.
Even if a good manual is created initially, there are cases where maintenance is neglected, leading to ad-hoc additions of information or the creation of separate manuals, resulting in necessary information being scattered. However, at APRESIA Systems, they are working hard to establish a workflow so that manual creation is not a one-time effort. I felt that their commitment to addressing user inquiries without difficulty is very ambitious.
Our company has methods to optimize the framework of technical communication in line with the quality of manuals that companies require, as well as extensive know-how for collaborating with engineers to create manuals.
We plan to continue assisting you with manual creation, and we would like to do our utmost to ensure that we can provide you with satisfactory support in the future.
