This feature allows computers (AI) to perform translations instead of humans. It is also called automatic translation or AI translation. It cannot be used as a standalone translation support tool and must be integrated with external machine translation services such as DeepL or Google. When no matching sentence is found in the translation memory, the machine translation function translates the text, and if a human revises the translated text, the translation speed improves compared to translating from scratch. A point to note is that although machine-translated text appears fluent and may seem fine when read alone, it can contain mistranslations or omit words or phrases from the original text. Therefore, it is essential for a human to compare the original and translated texts carefully to verify and correct them.

This is a database where translated terms and explanations corresponding to specific original names are stored. It is important to use correct names in official documents, and using a glossary helps prevent incorrect names from being used in translations. In translation support tools, if terms such as product names and service names are registered in the glossary, the terms included in the source text are automatically searched during translation, and the translated terms and explanations are displayed in the translation editing screen. In the glossary function of MTrans for Trados, terms included in the source text are automatically searched during machine translation, and the corresponding translated terms are automatically used in the machine-translated text, eliminating the need for manual corrections.

This is a database where pairs of original texts and their translations from past projects are stored. It is also called TM (Translation Memory). When translating for the first time, the original and translated texts are registered in the translation memory, and thereafter, by referring to the translation memory, there is no need to translate the same sentence multiple times.
Additionally, since it can be searched by partial matches, when there is a similar original text, past translations can be reused and only a part needs to be modified to complete a new translation. Using translation memory for documents with many similar sentences or revised documents can significantly reduce the time and cost required for translation.
