[Case Study] FA/PLC e-Learning Video Materials Translated into 13 Languages, Video Editing

Customer Requests and Challenges

This is a translation and video editing project for e-learning materials provided by a major domestic machine tool manufacturer to its product users.

We provide e-learning services in 13 languages, including English, not only in Japan but also overseas, covering languages from Latin America and Southeast Asia such as Mexican Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese.

 

We have created many teaching materials in the past, but you had the following challenges.

At Human Science, we have been providing SCORM compliance services for e-learning materials,

"Translated without knowledge of FA concepts or product understanding" "It's clear that the translation is done without understanding. There are no handover notes" "We are making adjustments to the deliverables from the translation company in-house" "There are few translation companies that have FA knowledge and sufficient capacity" "I want to request a comprehensive service that includes video editing after translation using software like Adobe Captivate and Articulate Presenter" "In Central and South America, as well as Southeast Asia, web browsing is often done on tablets and smartphones rather than PCs. Mobile tablet compatibility for Flash videos, such as on iPads, and HTML5 compatibility are also essential"

We have proposed the following solutions to address the challenges faced by our customers.

Translation in 13 languages by translators with experience in FA translation and product knowledge

The number of translators contracted with Human Science is approximately 100 for English, about 30 for Chinese, and over 20 for other languages.

Before concluding the contract, we conduct field-specific trials. These are outsourced to external organizations for evaluation and selection. The pass rate is 20%.

For this project, we selected translators from our contracted team who have sufficient experience in fields such as FA and machine tools, as well as those who have worked for manufacturers and possess product knowledge, to carry out the translation project.

At Human Science, we have been creating e-learning materials for 17 years since 2000.

A team specialized in e-learning materials is in-house, consisting of production technicians skilled in Adobe Captivate, Flash, Articulate, and Lectra, who performed video editing after translation.
