[Report] We held a seminar on "Companies that Fail to Implement Machine Translation and Companies that Succeed"

On April 18, 2018 (Wednesday), we held a machine translation seminar at our company seminar room with the theme "Companies that Fail to Implement Machine Translation, Companies that Succeed - 3 Key Points to Successfully Implementing Machine Translation (Automatic Translation)".

At the seminar held in February of this year, we discussed the process and key points for selecting an engine when introducing machine translation.
In this seminar, we focused on the points to avoid failures such as "having introduced machine translation (automatic translation) but not being able to operate it well."

Thank you very much to everyone who participated.

In this seminar, we compared companies that have failed and succeeded in implementing machine translation, and explained the key points to avoid failure. We also introduced two types of implementation methods, waterfall and agile, based on these points, along with customer case studies.

This time, it seems that those who have had concerns and requests like the following and have felt hurdles in introducing machine translation have found it particularly helpful.

・Introduced an easy-to-use machine translation engine, but the quality is terrible...
・The quality of post-editing is inconsistent...
・Spent a lot of money to introduce machine translation, but not utilizing it effectively...

Here are some of the comments we received from the post-seminar survey.

●Good points, points to refer to

Basic flow of machine translation, comparison of engines, and basic considerations for introduction plans were helpful (IT company/translation management personnel)

The actual implementation examples of both waterfall and agile types were easy to understand (industrial machinery manufacturer, translation management personnel)

The overall picture of implementing machine translation and specific points to be aware of have become clear (for industrial equipment and design management personnel)

Points I wanted to know more about, future requests

For more case studies and detailed case studies (IT companies and translation management personnel)

Please provide specific information on the timeline and budget for implementing machine translation (for industrial equipment manufacturers and development personnel).

I want to know the specific operation methods for comparing engine features and translation memory (for industrial machinery manufacturers and translation management personnel).

With the remarkable improvement in the quality of machine translation engines in recent years, more and more companies are considering their implementation.
However, there have also been many cases of failure due to insufficient planning and verification, resulting in the inability to fully utilize the benefits of machine translation.
At Human Science Co., Ltd., we provide support to ensure the optimal implementation and operation of machine translation engines tailored to each situation.
If you are interested in machine translation engines, please join our seminars.
We also offer individual consultations, so please feel free to contact us.
