[Case Study] FA/PLC e-Learning Video Materials Translated into 13 Languages, Video Editing

Customer's Requests and Challenges

This is a translation and video editing project for e-learning materials provided by a major domestic industrial machinery manufacturer to product users.

We provide e-learning services in 13 languages including English, as well as expanding not only in Japan but also overseas (such as Mexican Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese languages in Central and South America, and Southeast Asia).

 

We have created many teaching materials in the past, but we have faced the following challenges:

"Translated without knowledge of FA and product understanding" "I understand that it is being translated without understanding. There is no communication." "We are correcting the delivery from the translation company in-house." "There are few translation companies with FA knowledge and capacity." "We want to use software such as Adobe Captivate and Articulate Presenter to request video editing after translation." "In Central and South America and Southeast Asia, web browsing is more common on tablets and smartphones rather than PCs. Mobile tablet support for Flash videos such as iPad and HTML5 support are also essential."

We proposed the following solutions to address the challenges faced by our clients.

FA Translation Experience, Translators with Product Knowledge, 13 Language Translation

The number of translators contracted with Human Science Co., Ltd. is approximately 100 for English, 30 for Chinese, and over 20 for other languages.

Before signing the contract, conduct trials by field and outsource evaluation and selection to external organizations. The pass rate is 20%.

In this project, we selected translators who have sufficient experience in FA, machine tools, etc. from among those who have contracted with us, and who have product knowledge from their previous work at manufacturers, and proceeded with the translation project.

Captivate video editing by staff with over 10 years of experience in e-learning material creation, compatible with tablets

Human Science has been creating e-learning materials for 17 years since 2000.

A team of e-learning material specialists was stationed in-house, and production technicians for Adobe Captivate, Flash, Articulate, and Lectra were stationed in-house to perform video editing after translation.
