Solving In-House Manual Challenges - Learning from the Effects of TC through 10 Company Case Studies -

Event Guidelines

Date and Time
October 8 (Thursday) 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Location
Kyoto Research Park
Purpose of the Lecture
Learn about the effects of technical communication (TC) when creating manuals in-house.
From the case studies of 10 companies we consulted and supported in-house last year,
three challenges faced in the manual production process have been identified.
We will explain the results of applying the TC framework to each challenge,
and the ideal state for in-house manuals that emerged from those results.
This session is based on case studies from 10 companies with different industries and business types, providing content that can be utilized by any company.

Key Points of the Lecture
When creating manuals in-house, the challenges that arise can be broadly categorized into three types of issues.
These are issues related to "writing," issues related to "process," and issues related to "people and organization."
To address these issues, it is necessary to apply elements such as "technical writing," "direction," "design," "planning," and "quality control" in a comprehensive manner.
By applying this TC framework, we can approach not only the manifest problems but also the latent issues.
We will explain the solutions to the three types of problems, the secondary effects that lead to the resolution of latent issues, and the ideal state of in-house manuals, while touching on specific examples.
Flow of the Lecture
1. Challenges in the Production Field
2. Three Categories of Issues Faced in the Field
3. Framework for Technical Communication
4. Case Study ① (Issues Related to "Writing")
5. Case Study ② (Issues Related to "Process")
6. Case Study ③ (Issues Related to "People and Organization")
