We will present on "Improving Productivity in Translation Services" at the TC Symposium 2017 in Kyoto.

On Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the TC Symposium 2017 in Kyoto

"Three Perspectives to Improve the Productivity of Translation Work - Visualization, Optimization, and Automation of Translation Quality and Processes" will be announced.

 

In the context of technological innovations such as AI and reforms in work styles, improving efficiency and productivity has become a major challenge in the translation industry.

However, many companies implement temporary cost-cutting measures or simply adopt systems for automation without addressing the fundamental issues underlying the quality and process of translation.

To improve the efficiency of translation work and achieve true productivity, it is effective to review the quality and process of translation from three perspectives: "visualization, optimization, and automation," whether the translation is done internally or externally.

・ Translation is completely outsourced to external vendors, and the quality and process have become a black box.

・ The translation work is personalized, and the quality and productivity vary from person to person.

・ Tools such as machine translation are not being effectively utilized

What should we start with and how should we tackle these issues in translation work?

In this presentation, we will introduce specific approaches to improve translation quality and processes based on case studies of translation work improvement in domestic companies, aiming to bring them closer to the ideal state and enhance productivity.
