Overview

Recently, neural machine translation (hereinafter referred to as NMT) has been attracting attention in various places.

It has been confirmed that the accuracy of NMT in Japanese has significantly improved compared to previous statistical machine translation methods.

Since 2016, we have verified how much translation work can be streamlined when NMT is implemented in actual projects.

In addition, we have summarized the unique issues of NMT that became apparent through this verification.

In this presentation, we will discuss the quality of NMT, the optimal content for NMT, and the issues and solutions related to NMT.

About the Machine Translation (MT) Summit

This is an international conference where researchers and translation professionals gather to present the latest achievements in machine translation and hold invited talks. Since the first conference was held in Hakone in 1987, more than 300 participants have attended each time.

The 16th edition will be held in Nagoya from September 18 (Monday) to September 22 (Friday) for five days.
