"Participating in the session on "Efficiency and Standardization of Translation Business" at TC Symposium Tokyo 2017."

Mini session at TC Symposium 2017 Tokyo on August 24, 2017 (Friday)

"Improving Work Efficiency and Standardization in Business - Aiming for Solutions and Standardization in Translation Work" Our company's Tokuda will participate as a panelist.

■Purpose■

The wave of globalization continues to rise year by year.

Along with that, the translation work for documents has been steadily increasing year by year.

On the other hand, there are various challenges within the company such as responding to securing personnel, promoting in-house development, shortening delivery times, and reducing costs.

Amidst this, there is a demand for streamlining internal translation tasks, creating a sustainable workflow, and implementing PDCA to increase productivity in document translation.

We will explore from both the perspective of the front-line promoter and the consulting position, what approach should be taken to effectively link the utilization of in-house human resources and support tools, and the digitization of data assets to the productivity of translation.

■Point■

As a hint for those who are currently struggling with how to break away from personalized work and inherit data assets through standardization promotion, or for those who want to do something about it in the future, I would like to propose from both the manufacturer's perspective and the consultant's perspective towards solving challenges.

In discussions, we will propose ways to improve the current situation and set goals and methods (PDCA) to address the struggles and issues on the ground, as well as share the raw voices of those affected.

- Translation is outsourced to external vendors, making the quality and process a black box.

- Translation work is personalized, and quality and productivity vary depending on the person.

・Machine translation tools are not being utilized effectively

What should be done and how should we approach to solve these problems in translation work?

In this presentation, we will introduce specific approaches to improve translation quality and processes based on case studies of translation improvement in domestic companies, in order to increase productivity.
