[End] We will present on the theme of Japanese-English machine translation at the TC Symposium 2016 in Tokyo.

*This symposium has concluded.

On Thursday, August 25, 2016, at TC Symposium 2016 Tokyo

"Machine Translation Can Be Used for Japanese-English Translation! - Key Points for Utilizing Japanese-English Machine Translation Revealed Through Case Studies" will be the theme of the presentation.

This presentation will discuss the key points of utilizing Japanese-English machine translation.

The introduction of machine translation (MT) is progressing in domestic companies, focusing on European languages.

However, in the translation from Japanese to English, there are significant voices expressing that the quality of machine translation has not yet reached a sufficient level due to differences in language structure, making practical application difficult.

So, what conditions need to be met in order to utilize machine translation for Japanese-English translation, enabling cost reduction and shortening of the translation period?

We will present examples from Human Science that implemented Japanese-English machine translation, highlighting both the "successful cases" and the "unsuccessful cases."

By comparing these two cases, we will examine specific points for utilizing Japanese-English machine translation in the translation of technical documents and manuals, as well as the challenges ahead.

We will also introduce examples of successful implementation of Japanese-English machine translation, which have led to cost reduction and shortened translation periods.
