On March 17, 2020, we will hold the "Checker Course Taught by Field Professionals!" at Fellow Academy in two sessions on the 31st (Tuesday, biweekly x 2 times).
It is not only translators who are involved in translation. The role of checkers (reviewers) is extremely important in ensuring the quality of the translated text delivered to clients.
What is required of a checker is the ability to review translations, notice mistakes, and make corrections, which is also an essential skill for translators. Therefore, understanding the perspective of a checker leads to an improvement in the level of a translator.
Moreover, now that machine translation is rapidly evolving, the importance of thorough checks from a human perspective is becoming increasingly significant. The demand for translators who can not only translate but also perform checks is also growing.
In this course, instructors with various experiences at the forefront of a translation company trusted by numerous global IT companies will provide guidance.
After specifically explaining the work of a checker, the instructor provides practical guidance on checking perspectives and methods using assignments created based on common checking cases encountered in the field. This allows participants to gain real experience in the work currently being done in the field, making it beneficial for those aiming to become checkers, those pursuing a career as translators, or anyone looking to engage in translation in other forms such as post-editing, aiding their future endeavors.
Furthermore, if the instructor recognizes your skills by addressing the challenges, there is a possibility to take a trial for the checker position.

Harue Masuhara
After graduating from university, I gained experience as a system engineer before pursuing a career in translation.
Started with technical proofing of translated IT manuals, engaged in IT translation as a freelancer for 6 years, and then took on roles as a checker and quality control at a translation company.
Currently, I am involved in reviewing and rewriting marketing content for IT companies in the Language Solutions Department of Human Science, while also focusing on the training of translators and reviewers.
