As a project manager, I will oversee the overall management of English to Japanese translation projects. The translation coordinator is required to have strong communication and leadership skills to handle tasks such as estimates, scheduling, arranging translators, manuscript checks, and design instructions.
Additionally, attention to detail and perseverance are necessary when conducting checks, requiring a diverse skill set.
While the translation work itself is outsourced to external translators, the translation coordinator plays a crucial role in determining the desired outcome and direction of the translation.
There are two areas for translation coordinators: IT and Medical.
In the IT field, we handle translation projects for software manuals, help screens, websites, and press releases.
Our strength in human sciences lies in having dedicated reviewers, allowing us to provide high-quality translations. We offer high-quality translations that focus on Japanese expressions.
In the medical field, we work on projects such as medical papers, pharmaceuticals, manuals for medical devices and analytical instruments, and writing articles for medical journals, as well as transcribing and summarizing medical presentations. For English presentations, we transcribe in English and then translate.
We also conduct translations for global simultaneous clinical trials, contributing to the expedited release of drugs in Japan. In recent years, there has been an increase in content projects such as video distribution, subtitles, and e-learning through the web.
We create software manuals and complex product manuals for engineers. First, we understand the product information, then we conduct further research and interviews to produce the manuals. In addition to writing, we also plan and design, organizing teams according to the scale of the manuals, and manage the entire project, overseeing budget, schedule, and resources from the director's position. We collaborate with various people both inside and outside the company, such as DTP operators, designers, and translation coordinators, to complete the manuals in about 1 to 2 months.
Technical writers need a wide range of skills, including writing ability, management skills, direction skills, and communication skills.
In addition to manual production, we also support business improvement through reviewing (evaluating) texts from other companies and external writers, as well as conducting seminars and consulting for manual production within our clients' organizations.
As a project manager, I will oversee the entire project of translating product manuals for Japanese products into multiple languages. The job involves estimating, scheduling, arranging translators, checking manuscripts, and providing design instructions, requiring strong communication and leadership skills. Attention to detail and perseverance are also necessary during the review process, and a diverse skill set is required.
The fields of translation include manufacturing, IT, and distribution, among others. The media involved range from user manuals, help screens for specialized software, e-learning content, to narration and subtitles for videos. Some large projects involve translations into over 30 languages. To ensure quality, translations are first done from Japanese to English, and then from English to multiple languages.
We provide support for the implementation of educational support systems (LMS) for universities and companies.
Our mission is to support the growth of people and organizations through ICT, and we excel in supporting the utilization of the educational support system "Moodle," which has the highest implementation rate among national and public universities. We often undertake projects that involve the introduction of systems used across all departments, supporting students' daily learning.
By utilizing open-source development, we create user-friendly systems while flexibly customizing and developing plugins to meet our clients' challenges.
During system implementation, we may participate as project managers, handling specification design, schedule adjustments, and coordination with other systems. Our company aims to create systems that consider not only the delivery of the system but also the operation after implementation. Additionally, for clients who find it difficult to handle "Moodle" implemented by other companies, we provide operational support backed by our years of experience and know-how.
We provide consulting to help clients conduct internal training "more smoothly and efficiently" by leveraging the know-how gained from manual production and e-learning material production in human science.
First, we conduct interviews to identify the educational challenges within the client's organization. After the interviews, we propose training and material production, as well as the construction of educational support systems (LMS), making comprehensive proposals for educational support utilizing ICT to address educational challenges.
Additionally, we also conduct various training sessions, such as in-house support seminars to enable clients to create their own materials, compliance training, and security training.
Client challenges vary widely. We hold effective seminars by utilizing the strengths of each member according to the specific challenges.
Among our business activities, the role of consulting sales involves engaging in various projects.
As part of our operations, we consistently provide everything from planning proposals to support for solving client challenges. It is not just a sales style of merely selling products; the essence of our sales lies in the creative experience of collaborating with in-house specialists to create products.
Additionally, we participate in translation exhibitions and create opportunities for new business with potential clients.
In the future, it is also possible to advance your career as a sales manager responsible for market analysis and developing strategies for your department.
