After graduating from a foreign language university, I became a system engineer and entered the world of IT. My previous job involved developing applications and other software. In 2015, I joined Human Science Co., Ltd. and became an engineer for their machine translation business in 2020. With a wealth of knowledge in foreign languages and IT, I am highly trusted both within and outside the company. My hobbies include cooking while browsing recipe websites.
Reason for Joining the CompanyI attended a foreign language university when I was a student, and since I enjoyed reading and writing in English, I aimed to become a translator when job hunting. To become a translator, it is necessary to acquire specialized knowledge in a specific field, so after graduating from university, I decided to join an IT company and learn about the IT field as an engineer. I worked as an engineer for about 5 years, but during that time, I started to take on a management role in the development field and gradually became interested in management work. Looking back on my work experience, my initial desire to be involved in translation work became stronger, and when I started my job search, I learned about the translation coordinator position at Human Science for the first time. As a translation coordinator, I manage all translation tasks, so I began to think that this position would fit my work experience and skills, and above all, I applied for the job because I could be involved in translation-related work.
From Joining to NowFor 5 years since joining the company, I have mainly worked on translation projects for software UI and help materials for foreign IT companies. As I am responsible for the entire process from receiving the translation request to delivering the final product, I have always strived to ensure both quality and timely delivery. In addition, as it is necessary to generate revenue as a business, I have utilized my IT skills acquired during my time as an engineer to develop tools and improve costs while also working as a translation coordinator.
Current Business ContentI have recently transitioned from a Translation Coordinator role to working as an Engineer for our machine translation business. I am currently involved in developing a new web system to manage our company's machine translation service.
Job SatisfactionMy affiliation group is a new business based on machine translation technology that has made remarkable progress in recent years. However, due to limited personnel, a wide range of skills are required from each engineer, from development level to business level. It is a great responsibility to nurture this new business, but I believe that the rewards are equally great. In my case, I am in charge of web system development, and I am responsible for everything from requirement analysis and design to implementation, testing, and operation, based on business requests from my superiors. Therefore, I am able to be involved in the entire development process, handle both front-end and back-end development, and try out various tools and technologies to continuously improve, allowing me to utilize my past work experience and skills and feel a sense of growth. Additionally, I am able to use my experience as a translation coordinator to secretly enjoy translating UI and documents using CAT tools and machine translation tools in the development process.
Future GoalsFirst, we will focus on the initial release and stable operation of the assigned new web system. After that, while continuously improving our engineering skills, we aim to contribute to the growth of our machine translation business by also supporting updates to the already planned web system with higher quality and speed.
