Reason for Joining the Company

It was a company that had everything I was looking for

During my student days, I attended a foreign language university and enjoyed reading and writing in English, so I aimed to become a translator when I was job hunting. To become a translator, it is necessary to acquire specialized knowledge in specific fields, so after graduating from university, I decided to work for an IT company to learn about the IT field as an engineer. I worked as an engineer for about five years, during which I gradually took on a management role in the development field and became increasingly interested in management tasks. Reflecting on my work experience, my desire to engage in translation work, which I had from the beginning, grew stronger, and when I started job hunting, I first learned about the position of translation coordinator in human sciences. Since the translation coordinator manages all aspects of translation work, I began to feel that this role fit my work experience and skills, and above all, I was excited about the opportunity to be involved in translation-related work, so I immediately applied for the job.

Since joining the company

Trusted position from early on

For five years since joining the company, I was mainly involved in translation projects for software UIs and help documentation for foreign IT companies. Since I was responsible for the entire process from receiving the translation request to delivery, I made it a point to ensure quality and adherence to deadlines. Additionally, as it was necessary to secure revenue for the business, I utilized the IT skills I acquired during my engineering days to develop tools tailored to various business challenges while also working as a translation coordinator to improve costs.

Current Business Activities

Challenge to New Fields

I have transitioned from the position of translation coordinator to working as an engineer in the machine translation business. I am currently involved in a new web system to manage our company's machine translation service.

Job Satisfaction

Utilize your knowledge of IT and English

My group is a new business based on the rapidly advancing machine translation technology of recent years. However, we have limited personnel, and the range of requirements for each engineer spans from development level to business level, demanding a variety of high skills. As we are in a position to nurture a new business, the responsibility is significant, but I believe the rewards are also substantial. In my case, I am responsible for web system development, and I am entrusted with everything from requirements analysis and design to implementation, testing, and operation, based on business requirements from my superiors. This allows me to be involved in the entire development process, work on both front-end and back-end development, and experiment with various tools and technologies for daily improvements, which gives me a sense of fulfillment as I can widely apply my past work experience and skills and feel my growth. Additionally, leveraging my experience as a translation coordinator, I secretly enjoy translating UI and documents using CAT tools and machine translation tools during the development process.

Future Goals

Hone your skills and contribute to business growth

First, we will focus on the initial release and operational stabilization of the new web system. After that, while continuously honing our engineering skills, we aim to contribute to the growth of the machine translation business by responding to updates of the web system that are already planned, with higher quality and speed.
