In translation, there is a need to translate a large amount of documents, mainly from Japanese to English, amounting to millions of characters per year.

Several in-house translators are using translation software Trados to carry out translations.

In order to reduce the workload of in-house translators, we have been considering introducing machine translation and contacted Human Science Co., Ltd. in February 2020.

Reasons for Choosing Human Science

As a Trados plugin, the movement is smooth.

In translation work, the collaboration between Trados and machine translation was essential.

After conducting research for several years and trialing over 5 machine translation services, we have verified that they are insufficient for use in our business due to issues such as instability and errors resulting in no translation output.

As part of that, we conducted a two-week trial of Human Science's "MTrans for Trados" from the end of February 2020.

・Smooth operation as a Trados plugin. Highly rated by those in the translation industry.

・Quick response and polite support for questions that arose during the trial. I thought the support was good and I could trust them.

We have received your evaluation and have decided to introduce it.

Introduction Effect

Achieving tight deadlines was difficult with the traditional translation process.

"Among the translation tasks I was in charge of, there were some requests with very tight deadlines, and there were times when I felt that it would have been impossible to meet the deadline without using MTrans for Trados."

When handling urgent translations, the peace of mind that comes from having MTrans for Trados translations available greatly reduces the pressure on delivery deadlines.

Even if the content is difficult for translators to understand due to its technical complexity, MTrans for Trados faithfully translates it word for word, making it possible to grasp and refine the content from there.

MTrans for Trados does not generate free translations or super translations, so there is no need to "interpret" the translated text, making it easier to identify areas that require editing even if the intended translation is not achieved.

Evaluation of Human Science Co., Ltd.

It made my vague desires into concrete forms.

"To all those who developed MTrans for Trados, I send my heartfelt praise and gratitude as a translator. This is the first time we have introduced machine translation in our translation work, and its contribution to streamlining our operations has been recognized within our company."

Our future challenge is to reduce the workload of post-editing. Even though the quality of the translation is not a problem, manual adjustments are necessary for applying styles. Human Science Co., Ltd. has proposed a "custom engine" for customizing terminology and expressions, as well as improving quality by changing the translation process. We would like to consider what we can do based on the feedback we have received.
We also look forward to continued support for efficiency in the future."
