Background

In 1907, Nippon Steel Corporation was established in Muroran, Hokkaido through a joint venture between three companies: Armstrong Whitworth and Vickers from the UK, and Hokkaido Colliery and Steamship Company from Japan.

Since our establishment, we have pursued "manufacturing" and "value creation", and currently aim to be a company that contributes to the development of society by creating change with original technology through our industrial machinery business, which deals with various types of machinery products, and our raw materials and energy business for the energy industry.

The resin machinery division that introduced MTrans Team this time plays a part in the world's No.1 resin machinery product complex, and globally expands large-scale pelletizers, twin-screw kneaders, and film/sheet manufacturing equipment. The export ratio exceeds 60%, and daily contract business and technical document exchanges with overseas customers occur frequently.

Challenges before implementation

Translating documents such as contracts and machinery specifications takes time.

In the business division with a high overseas sales ratio, it is essential to handle English documents spanning dozens of pages, and a significant amount of resources are devoted to translation work. Additionally, standardizing terminology has been a concern. To improve operational efficiency and streamline terminology, the introduction of translation tools was inevitable.

Information leakage security issues

Our company did not have a translation system in place, so each individual relied on free tools such as Google Translate. However, these tools had the potential for information leakage, and from a security standpoint, the company has officially decided to implement a translation tool.
